Ambassador Wiryono Sastrohandoyo


Wiryono Sastrohandoyo is a former senior diplomat who began his career in 1962 when he joined the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He later held the position of Director-General of Political Affairs in the Department. Ambassador Wiryono served terms as Minister Counsellor in Paris, Chief of Mission in Washington, Deputy Representative to the Indonesian Mission in New York, Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna. Between 1996 and 1999 he was Indonesia's Ambassador to Australia.

He is the former Chief Negotiator for the Indonesian Government with the Aceh autonomy movement.

He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Jakarta.
