Sam Hendricks is Deputy Editor of the Interpreter. Prior to joining the Lowy Institute, he worked in media and communications roles in Australia in the not-for-profit, academic, and corporate sectors. He has worked for the United Nations in peacekeeping and humanitarian operations in Afghanistan, Sudan, and Timor-Leste, and in New York for Unicef and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. He has conducted research in Mali on protecting civilians in armed conflict and was an election officer for Iraqi expatriates in the US voting for Iraq’s Constitutional Assembly. He has also worked extensively in magazine and web publishing and is a graduate of the creative writing program at Carnegie-Mellon University in the US.
