Leading international affairs analyst to visit Australia

Respected foreign affairs analyst and commentator Gideon Rachman will visit Australia in November as the Lowy Institute’s 2022 Rothschild & Co Distinguished International Fellow. While in Australia, he will undertake an extensive program of meetings and public events in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

Gideon Rachman became chief foreign affairs columnist for the Financial Times in July 2006. He joined the FT after a 15-year career at The Economist, which included spells as a foreign correspondent in Brussels, Washington DC and Bangkok. He also edited the business and Asia sections of The Economist. His interests include US foreign policy, the European Union and globalisation. His most recent book is The Age of the Strongman: How the Cult of the Leader Threatens Democracy around the World.

The Lowy Institute Distinguished International Fellowship was established in 2013 to bring an internationally recognised intellectual and policy leader to Australia to deepen debate on global issues. The Institute appreciates the support of Rothschild & Co for the 2022 Distinguished International Fellowship.
