Join us for this conversation with one of the foremost chroniclers of American life. Author Lawrence Wright will discuss his new book, The Plague Year, which tells the story of Covid-19 on a global and an intimate scale, illuminating the medical, economic, political and social ramifications of the pandemic. Lowy Institute Executive Director Michael Fullilove will also talk with Wright about his writing and journalism career, and the state of US politics.
 
Lawrence Wright is an author, screenwriter, playwright and a staff writer for The New Yorker magazine. He is the author of ten non-fiction books including The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 2007. Wright’s novel about a global pandemic, The End of October, was released in May 2020, and his latest book is The Plague Year: America in the Time of Covid.

Dr Michael Fullilove AM is Executive Director of the Lowy Institute. He is the author of Rendezvous with Destiny, which won the NSW Premier's Literary Award for Non-Fiction. In 2019 Dr Fullilove was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to international relations.
