Lowy Institute announces new Chief Operating Officer

The Lowy Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Suyin Ng as its new Chief Operating Officer.

Suyin joins the Lowy Institute from Lonely Planet, where she was Director of Strategy and Legal. In this role she had responsibility for strategic projects and partnerships, including the development and launch of Lonely Planet's new China business. Prior to this, she was Lonely Planet's General Counsel working on the company's growing digital business. She started her career at Mallesons as an intellectual property lawyer. Suyin graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Arts and Law (Honours). She has also been a Director and Chair of not-for-profit organisations YWCA Victoria and Social Housing Victoria.

'I am delighted to welcome Suyin to the Lowy Institute.  She brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles and will play a leading part in helping to drive the next phase of the Institute's evolution', said the Lowy Institute’s Executive Director, Dr Michael Fullilove.

Suyin replaces Martine Letts, who has served as the Lowy Institute's Deputy Director since 2005.

'Martine has made a very significant contribution to the development of the Lowy Institute, serving with distinction under all three of the Institute’s Executive Directors', said Dr Fullilove. ‘Martine played an important role in making the Institute Australia's leading think tank and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.  She will remain a valued friend of the Institute'.
