Pete Millwood teaches the history of US–China relations at the University of Melbourne. His book, Improbable Diplomats: How Ping-Pong Players, Musicians, and Scientists Remade US-China Relations, reveals how scholars, scientists, and students helped bring about US–China rapprochement in the 1970s and what that meant for China and the US. He received his PhD from Oxford and later taught Chinese and American students at Tsinghua University’s Schwarzman College.
