Diplomatic wooden spooners: Andrew Shearer interview on ABC radio

Alex Sloan interviewed Andrew Shearer in Canberra on the state of Australia's diplomatic network, following yesterday's release of Diplomatic Disrepair: rebuilding Australia's international policy infrastructure. Andrew argues that more than two decades of neglect of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), over a period when Australia has become one of the most globalised countries in the world, have impaired Australia's capacity to cultivate relationships with important new global powers and threaten to weaken Australia's standing in the world.A transcript of the interview and a podcast are available to download here:http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2011/08/23/3300083.htm
