The future of Australia-Japan Relations

On 12 October, the Lowy Institute hosted a conference, featuring six Japanese speakers, on the future of Australia-Japan relations, on the back of the joint declaration on security cooperation and the commencement of free trade deal talks. Japan has been Australia's closest regional diplomatic ally and major export market for decades. The Institute received generous support for the conference from the Australia-Japan Foundation and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sydney. For more information on the content of the conference, please read the outcomes report.Malcolm Cook
