Following the launch earlier this week of a Lowy policy brief on e-diplomacy, below a few related links.

  • Why are Indonesians the world's leading tweeters' (thanks to reader Ben). They already have the world's second largest Facebook population (thanks Sarah).
  • FP's Turtle Bay blog takes a detailed look at the UN's e-diplomacy community and some of the best and worst examples of its use.
  • The e-diplomacy website, 'exploring appropriate use of new diplomatic tools'.
  • At a conference I recently attended in Canberra, the head of one government agency worried aloud what reputations his children were cementing for themselves through their youthful social media posts. Now the Israeli military is using Facebook to catch draft dodgers.
  • UK Foreign Secretary, William Hague, answers your questions in a Twitter Q&A.
  • Foreign Minister Rudd makes major international speech, watch the video, listen to the podcast....ummm, actually DFAT websites don't have these capabilities.
