  • The September edition of the IMF's Finance & Development magazine is out. The focus is on the Millennium Development Goals, including some scepticism from Jagdish Bhagwati. There's also some stuff on fiscal challenges, and this piece on the return of capital controls – a trend I noted a while back.
  • Harold James examines China's economic qualifications to be a global hegemon: pretty good so far, he reckons.
  • A Krugman and Wells review essay on three books looking at the GFC (part one of two).
  • Bremmer and Roubini muse on the future of capitalism.
  • Baldwin and Jaimovich take a look at contagious FTAs.
  • Finally, Michael Lewis is doing a great job chronicling his 'financial-disaster tourism'. Last year, I linked to his essay on Iceland. Now there's a new one on Greece. His recent book was pretty good, too.
