The IMF has been undergoing something of a make-over recently: changes to make its governance more representative and a rethinking of some core policy beliefs, including those applicable to capital controls, exchange rates, and inflation targeting

Are we also going to see a kinder, gentler IMF' Maybe so: here is Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn worrying about the consequences of increased inequality and calling for a 'new globalization for a new world – a globalization with a human face, where people come first, and where growth and equity always go together...the invisible hand must not become the invisible fist.'
