Lowy Lecture Series: Burma's transition: progress and prospects
On 8 May 2013, the Lowy Institute hosted a panel discussion on polictical and economic reform in Burma (Myanmar). The Institute's Executive Director, Dr Michael Fullilove, chaired the panel, which included long time Burma watchers Dr Andrew Selth from the Griffith Asia Institute and Dr Sean Turnell from Macquarie University.

Dr Michael Fullilove AM is the Executive Director of the Lowy Institute.
Sean Turnell
Sean Turnell is a Senior Fellow in the at the Lowy Institute, specialising in macroeconomic policy, economic reform, and Myanmar. From 2016 to 2021, he served as senior economic adviser to Myanmar's democratic government, and was subsequently imprisoned for 650 days following the February 2021 military coup.
Andrew Selth
Dr Andrew Selth is an Adjunct Professor at the Griffith Asia Institute, at Griffith University, Brisbane, and author of numerous books, monographs and articles on Myanmar.
