Patricia Salas Sanchez

Patricia Salas Sanchez is a PhD student at the Gender, Peace and Security Centre at Monash University funded by the Monash University Faculty of Arts International Postgraduate Research Scholarship. She studies within the discipline of International Relations supervised by Professor Jacqui True, Assoc Prof Peter Lentini, and Dr Constance Duncombe. Her research interests lie at the critical and interdisciplinary intersections of international relations, social and political theory, gender, historical epistemology, and violence. Patricia is particularly interested in bodies, foreign policy and diplomacy.

Originally from Durango, Mexico, Patricia obtained a Master of Science (MSc with Merit) in International Relations from the University of Edinburgh, UK and a Specialised Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Global Political Studies from York University in Toronto, Canada. She has previously worked in cultural diplomacy, as Senior Commissioning Editor at E-International Relations (E-IR), and as Campaigns and Public Facing Coordinator at Oxfam Mexico. Prior to moving to Melbourne in 2018, Patricia lived in Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom and China. Her geographical areas of expertise are Latin America, Eastern Europe, Europe and Asia. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has limited working proficiency in French.
