Former World Bank and US Treasury China expert David Dollar to visit Australia

Former World Bank and US Treasury China expert David Dollar will be the 2016 G20 Studies Centre Visiting Fellow at the Lowy Institute from 1 to 12 February.

He will be discussing the challenges and opportunities for China’s economy at a critical point in its development. He will be speaking on 'The Chinese Economic Outlook' at a lunchtime public event at the Lowy Institute on 4 February.

He will also engage in roundtables and seminars with policymakers, academics, and representatives from the private sector.

Dollar is currently a senior fellow at the John L. Thornton China Center at the Brookings Institution.

From 2009 to 2013 he was the US Treasury's economic and financial emissary to China.

He was the Treasury’s eyes and ears on the ground and reported back to Washington on economic and policy developments in China.

Dollar worked at the World Bank for 20 years, and was country director for China and Mongolia from 2004 to 2009.

His other World Bank assignments focused on Asian economies, including South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Bangladesh, and India.
