Leading Indian diplomat and commentator Shivshankar Menon to visit Australia

 

One of India’s most respected and influential foreign policy thinkers, Shivshankar Menon, will visit Australia in October as the Lowy Institute’s 2023 Rothschild & Co Distinguished International Fellow. Menon will travel to Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra for meetings with senior officials, researchers and analysts, and participate in public events hosted by the Lowy Institute.

On Monday, 9 October Menon will deliver the 2023 Owen Harries Lecture at the Lowy Institute’s historic headquarters in Sydney. This event celebrates the legacy of Owen Harries, a renowned figure in Australian foreign policy. 

Shivshankar Menon will also appear in conversation at the National Press Club in Canberra on Wednesday, 11 October, and will deliver a speech on India’s role as an Asian power at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne on Thursday, 12 October

 

About Shivshankar Menon:  Shivshankar Menon served as India's National Security Adviser from 2010 to 2014, prior to which he held the roles of Foreign Secretary and Ambassador to several key capitals, including Beijing and Islamabad. He is widely respected for his insights into global geopolitics and has worked at the highest levels of world politics, including with leaders such as Barack Obama and Xi Jinping
