David Capie is Director of the Centre for Strategic Studies and Associate Professor of International Relations at Victoria University of Wellington. His research interests focus on security issues in the Asia-Pacific region, regional institutions, and New Zealand's foreign and defence policy. He was a Research Fellow at the Liu Institute at the University of British Columbia (2001-2004) and a Visiting Scholar at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University (2007) and at LUISS Guido Carli in Rome (2011). He is a member of the ASEAN Regional Forum Experts and Eminent Persons Group.
