Terms of entry - Lowy Institute events

The Lowy Institute aims to deepen the international debate in Australia and give Australians a more prominent voice on the international stage. As part of this mission, we host events, speeches and discussions with leading policymakers and experts. We are committed to ensuring that our events are considered, respectful and welcoming to all guests. Our Terms of Entry are designed with this in mind.

By attending a Lowy Institute event, all guests agree to the following Terms of Entry:

  1. Registration requirement
    Entry is limited to individuals who have registered for the event in advance through the official registration process. Walk-ins or unregistered guests will not be admitted.
  2. Identification and check-in
    Upon arrival, guests may be required to present valid identification and confirm their registration details with Lowy Institute staff. Entry may be denied if registration cannot be verified.
  3. Punctuality
    We ask that guests arrive at the advertised start time. The Lowy Institute reserves the right to refuse entry to late arrivals to minimise disruption and ensure the security and integrity of the event.
  4. Right to refuse entry
    The Lowy Institute reserves the right to refuse entry or request the departure of any individual who: 
    is not on the guest list or cannot provide evidence of registration; 
    arrives after the event has commenced; 
    behaves in a disruptive or unsafe manner, or in the judgement of the Institute, appears likely to do so; 
    fails to comply with reasonable directions from Lowy Institute staff; or 
    wears or otherwise displays threatening, intimidating, insulting, or offensive signage, messages or logos.
  5. General conduct
    All attendees are expected to conduct themselves respectfully and in accordance with the Lowy Institute’s Terms of Entry. Disruptive or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
  6. Changes and cancellations
    The Lowy Institute reserves the right to change event details or cancel events at its discretion. Registered guests will be notified of any significant changes via the contact details provided at registration.
  7. Photography, filming and media
    The Lowy Institute may photograph, film or livestream events. By attending, you consent to the use of your image and voice for promotional, archival or editorial purposes. If you do not wish to be filmed or photographed, please advise a staff member upon arrival.
  8. Security screening
    Attendees may be subject to security screening, including bag checks, prior to entry. Refusal to comply with screening procedures may result in denied entry.
  9. Personal belongings
    All personal belongings are the responsibility of the attendee. The Lowy Institute accepts no liability for lost, stolen or damaged items.
  10. Ticket transfers or substitutions
    Registrations are non-transferable unless explicitly approved in advance by the Lowy Institute. Substitutions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
