Lowy Institute announces German Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel as the 2014 Lowy Lecturer

The Executive Director of the Lowy Institute, Dr Michael Fullilove, today announced that Her Excellency Dr Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, will deliver this year’s Lowy Lecture on 17 November 2014.

“Chancellor Merkel is one of the most influential and impressive leaders on the world stage today. We are honoured that she has agreed to deliver the 2014 Lowy Lecture”, said Dr Fullilove.

The 2014 Lowy Lecture will be held at The Westin Sydney, 1 Martin Place, Sydney on Monday, 17 November 2014 at 10.30am for 11.00am. It will conclude at midday.

The annual Lowy Lecture is the Lowy Institute's flagship event. Each year a prominent individual reflects on developments in the world. Past Lowy Lecturers have included Rupert Murdoch AC, Executive Chairman of News Corp; Lionel Barber, Editor of the Financial Times; Dr Marius Kloppers, CEO of BHP Billiton; and Prime Minister John Howard OM AC, who delivered the inaugural Lowy Lecture in 2005.
