Anutin Charnvirakul is the Prime Minister of Thailand. He has also served as leader of the Bhumjaithai Party since 2012.
He previously served as Minister of Interior (2023–2025), and as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health (2019–2023), where he oversaw Thailand's COVID-19 response and the 2022 decriminalisation of cannabis, a first for Asia. His political career began in 1996 with the Thai Rak Thai Party; earlier roles included Deputy Minister of Commerce and Deputy Minister of Public Health under Thaksin Shinawatra. Before politics, he led Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction, his family's infrastructure firm.
Mr Anutin holds an engineering degree from Hofstra University and a mini-MBA from Thammasat University, along with several honorary doctorates.
