Dr Melanie Pill is a Research Fellow in the Lowy Institute’s Indo-Pacific Development Centre where she is responsible for progressing the Centre's work on climate change. She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University, holds an Honours in Economics from Germany, a Master of Environmental Management and Development, and a PhD from the Australian National University. 

Dr Pill has worked at various government departments and served as an adviser to Pacific governments and organisations. She has more than a decade of experience in international policy development and diplomacy, climate change finance, as well as the economics of climate change with a focus on vulnerable countries, particularly in the Pacific. Her areas of expertise include climate change loss and damage, climate finance over adaptation, and policy development for climate change mitigation.
