Isel van Zyl is a researcher and project manager specialising in violent extremism, conflict, and human security.
Her work focuses on state fragility, deradicalisation, and the role of non-state actors in prevention efforts across Africa. She has published widely and contributed to international policy discussions on preventing and countering violent extremism, presenting at global forums including the Global Counterterrorism Forum, UN side events, and regional policy roundtables. Isel currently coordinates the AVERT Research Network at Deakin University.
