Peter Baker
Peter Baker is the chief White House correspondent for The New York Times and political analyst for MSNBC, with more than three decades of experience covering six American presidencies from Bill Clinton through Donald Trump's second term.
Peter joined The New York Times in 2008 after 20 years at The Washington Post. His White House reporting spans six presidencies, beginning with Bill Clinton in 1996 and continuing through George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald J. Trump, Joseph R. Biden Jr., and Trump's second term.
Over his career he has covered presidential elections, economic crises, foreign policy decisions, natural disasters, legislative battles, eight Supreme Court nominations, seven inaugurations, and three impeachments. He also reported from the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq during the early months of the US wars there, and served as the lead reporter for The Times's Jerusalem bureau.
During a four-year posting to Moscow with The Washington Post, Peter and his wife, journalist Susan Glasser, chronicled the rise of Vladimir Putin. He has written seven books, most recently The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017–2021, co-authored with Susan.
