The Diplomat looks at the trends to watch across the region in the coming year.

The opinion polls all indicate that a national election held today would see Prime Minister Scott Morrison swept from power and the sixth Australia leader installed inside eight years, this time with a change of ruling party. Morrison himself only took the top job in August 2018 after a surprise internal putsch within the conservative government.

The neck-jarring shifts in the Australian political scene are having a profound impact on the presentation of country’s foreign policy.
