Welcome to the Southeast Asia Aid Map
This interactive database tracks and maps aid and development finance flows from the international community to Southeast Asia. The research covers Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor‑Leste and Vietnam, with complete data from 2015 to 2021.
The goal of this research project is to improve aid efficiency in southeast Asia through better transparency and coordination of development efforts.
Southeast Asia is one of the most dynamic and fast‑growing regions in the world, both in terms of economic growth and population.
As measured by the Human Development Index (HDI), stages of development are varied across the region, which implies different development needs. Note the groupings of countries in four distinct tiers. HDI scores in Southeast Asia have remained largely constant since 2015.
Yet Southeast Asia continues to face significant development challenges, including poverty, inequality, lack of access to education and healthcare, political instability, and vulnerability to natural disasters.
These issues were further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to significant setbacks and social disruptions across the region.

We have collected information on more than 100,000 projects from more than 97 development partners involved in the region.

The Southeast Asia Aid Map provides a variety of tools to allow users to make the most of the database, including an interactive map, charts and key indicator dashboards, profiles of each Southeast Asian country and major development partners, and free download of the complete dataset with detailed project level information.
