Keith Barney is Associate Professor with the Resources, Environment & Development (RE&D) Department at the Crawford School of Public Policy, The Australian National University. Over the last 25 years, Keith has engaged with environment and development challenges in rural Southeast Asia. His work draws on approaches from political ecology, economic geography, and agrarian studies, with sector specialisations on forestry, land, water, energy, and mining governance. Keith’s recent publications have examined the connections between natural resources, state power, and socialist regime durability in Laos. He is a committee member of the ANU Southeast Asia Institute, and an Associate Editor of Asia and the Pacific Policy Studies journal.
