Nick Bisley is Pro Vice-Chancellor Research and Professor of International Relations at La Trobe University.
He was previously the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences and inaugural Executive Director of La Trobe Asia. Nick was the President of the Australasian Council of Deans of Arts, Social Sciences and Commerce between 2022 and 2024 and was the Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Journal of International Affairs between 2013 and 2018. He has been a Senior Research Associate of the International Institute of Strategic Studies and a Visiting Fellow at theEast-West Center in Washington, DC.
Nick is the author of many works on international relations; his most recent book is Asia Crucible: Geopolitics, Globalization and the Contest for the Future (Bristol University Press, 2026). He regularly contributes to and is quoted in national and international media, including The Guardian, The Economist, and Time Magazine.
