Dr Rahul Nath is a Research Fellow at the Lowy Institute’s Indo-Pacific Development Centre (Opens in new window) and is responsible for the Institute’s Southeast Asia Aid Map (Opens in new window). His research areas include aid and development policy, development finance, sovereign debt, macroeconomic dynamics, multilateral development banks, and climate finance.
Dr Nath brings extensive experience having worked in government, academia, and the private sector. Prior to joining the Institute, Dr Nath worked at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) where he primarily focused on Australia’s relationship with the multilateral development banks and development finance issues. Dr Nath has also held roles as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Economics at Ashoka University and Stipendiary Lecturer at Exeter College, University of Oxford.
He holds a DPhil in Economics and an MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford. He also holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours Class I and University Medal) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Actuarial Studies and Finance) from the University of New South Wales.
