Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to deliver the 2023 Lowy Lecture

The Lowy Institute is delighted to announce that the 2023 Lowy Lecture will be delivered by the Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon. Anthony Albanese MP.

The Lowy Lecture will be held on Tuesday 19 December 2023 at the Sydney Town Hall.

The Lowy Lecture is the Institute’s flagship event and one of the world’s leading lecture series. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Lowy Institute. The Institute’s Chairman, Sir Frank Lowy AC, will also be attending the event.

The Hon. Anthony Albanese MP was sworn in as the 31st Prime Minister of Australia on 23 May 2022. Mr Albanese previously held a number of senior frontbench positions, including Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the House of Representatives. Since the election of his government in May 2022, the Prime Minister has focused closely on issues of foreign policy. In October 2023 he will be the guest of honour at a State Dinner at the White House hosted by US President Joe Biden.

Past Lowy Lecturers have included leaders such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, then UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, as well as three Australian prime ministers.
